Final Reveal! The West Town Residence

Well, we started in Fall 2018 for a project we thought would take 4-5 months. 2 solid months of rain, a polar vortex, and a healthy dose of anxiety landed us at 9 months. Let's just say that we have incredible clients that probably deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.

It started with the roof...s....the roofs. We were only supposed to do one. Then, one day, we were on the 2nd floor and noticed black soot on the walls. Then, fingers started scratching beards:

"Wait a minute, there's no fireplace!"

Rut roh. Off the roof deck went! What did our wondrous eyes behold? A water bed! (<--- see it here!) ON THE ROOF! And so it began, not one roof, but three roofs!

Then, monsoon season arrived - also known as "October." Do you know what we need to build a new roof? We need it to NOT rain. Okay, okay, fine! We waited: one week, two weeks....three weeks? Alas! The day arrived! Our lumber delivery was scheduled and the crews were chomping at the bit to get started. About 6am on game day, I get "the call". The lumber yard burned down.

Did you read that? The lumber yard BURNED TO THE !%$#^ng GROUND. Y'know, the one with all of our custom trusses in it that took three weeks to fabricate.

Seriously, there just weren't enough flowers in the world to send to my clients.

And so it goes, BOOM! It's Thanksgiving and we still don't have a ROOF. That's okay! We were finally ready during the first snowfall of the season: Snow storm construction!

Then, the polar vortex happened. This was probably good because that's about how long it took us to muster the courage to install the steel in the back. If you recall, this steel was custom fabricated by us per the specifications by the brilliant Clark Bauer, our structural engineer.

We went through several variations and then realized that we couldn't lift these massive beams with manpower and a crane was not an option due to physical constraints. So, we redesigned them into individual pieces so that we could physically lift them. Great news, it worked!

And then, the rest.

So! Here it is folks, the final reveal!
